TEACHING PORTFOLIO

Virtual Lesson Plan: La cuisine et la planète

In this Zoom lesson for beginning French speakers, students at Lac du Bois learned about the environmental impact of transporting foods. I added a drama activity to the curriculum, splitting students into breakout rooms and asking them to create a short puppet show using fruits and vegetables before returning to the larger group to perform. A script was provided as a baseline for the performances, but students were free to add and improvise.

Virtual Lesson Plan: Les restaurants

In this Zoom lesson for intermediate French speakers, students at Lac du Bois learned about restaurants and traditional dishes in different Francophone countries. I added a drama activity to this curriculum, which was written by Rachel Beran. I asked students to act out various feelings and emotions. Then I chose two students at a time to read a simple script of a patron and waiter at a restaurant. Each actor had the task of conveying a different emotion in their performance, with the option of substituting traditional dishes from earlier in the lesson into the dialogue.

Virtual Lesson Song: Rac-a-tac-tac

In this Zoom song lesson for all levels, I co-teach a song called “Rac-a-tac-tac,” with my colleague Vanessa Vaughan. This clip demonstrates some of the theatrical methods used to teach unfamiliar vocabulary to students who don't speak the target language.

Vocabulary Skits: Jules Jeux-Nuls

As a leadership staff member at Lac du Bois, I wrote daily grammar and vocabulary skits. I created the character of Jules Jeux Nuls (Jules Silly Games), a game show host who would lead campers and counselors in lighthearted activities like charades, pictionary, and taste tests.
